Zechariah’s Song

Luke 1:68-79

No one likes to wait! Waiting at the bus stop, at the doctor’s office, or at the DMV is hard work. Zechariah’s song is about waiting on God for answers to earnest prayers.
Zechariah had three major prayer request:

  1. He longed to have a child.
  2. He desired to be chosen by lot to offer the annual sacrifice
  3. He passionately hoped the Messiah would visit plant earth in his lifetime.

The Benedictus is the Latin name for Zechariah’s song translated from the first word in this song of thanksgiving and fulfillment of waiting prayer. Join us this Sunday as we discover how waiting in prayer leads to personal visitation!

Each of these songs recorded in Scripture, capture the truth that our God became flesh and dwelt among us, Emanuel, God with us! What changed for Mary, Zachariah, and Simeon? They all held Jesus in their arms and God became personal!
